Biography

Rama Mohan Rao was born to Shri Nagoji Rao Hebbare, renowned tailor by profession & Lakshmi Bai Hebbare, native of Allagadda, at Nandyal, Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh on 23 March 1939 at 2:30 am. He is the eldest among six brothers and two sisters in the family. He was brought up in Allagadda, situated on the banks of Vakkileru River and 10 kms from Nallamala forest.

Lovingly called as Chakri, Chakrapani & Mohana he did his schooling from Allagadda and college education from Kurnool. Rama Mohan Rao discontinued his education during 1957 due to financial constraints of the family and started working on temporary basis in Irrigation Department, Allagadda to take the responsibility of his brothers & sisters education. Selected by Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission in 1962 he was posted to Animal Husbandry Department, Kurnool and in 1965 was transferred to Ongole on promotion.

During his tenure at Ongole, he married Rukmani, (an employee in Irrigation Department) daughter of Shri Tukaram Patke from Bellary, Karnataka on 26 February 1967. The couple were blessed with two sons Raveen, PraveenKumar & a daughter Suman.

Rama Mohan Rao worked at Allagadda, Ongole, Banavasi Farm, Adoni, Nandyal & Kurnool before retiring as Statistical Investigator in Animal Husbandry Department at Kurnool. During his service he published more than 35 scientific articles. He received two district level awards and the prestigious national award - Dr.M.N.MENON MEMORIAL AWARD in 1996.

Even though the family moved on to modern times, Rama Mohan Rao still had the passion for his family profession 'Tailoring'. He used to stitch clothes for all the family members till early 90s. He still has his favourite Sewing Machine made in Germany by Gritzner, the company which was destroyed in II World War.

After his retirement, Rama Mohan Rao sought to find a greater meaning to his life. He decided to dedicate his retired life for the noble cause of developing Bhavasar Kshatriya Community. He undertook many activities as President of Kurnool Bhavasar Kshatriya Samaj including the construction of Shri Rukmini Panduranga Swami Temple, Bhavasar Bhavan and Kalyana Mandap (Marriage Hall). He led many teams for organizing various social activities such as Medical Camps, Vadhu Var Parichay Sammelans, adoption of needy people, education of poor, etc.

Over the last two decades, inspite of undergoing bypass heart surgery, nothing could dissuade him from fulfilling his mission of educating the poor and needy children. As the Founder & Managing Trustee, he is running the Bhavasar Kshatriya Education Trust (Regd.No.BK-IV 109/2008), Kurnool and sponsoring scholarships/grants to the poor students from 2009-10 till date.

The selfless and dedicated contribution of Shri Rama Mohan Rao Hebbare to Bhavsar Kshatriya community is recognised with SAMAJ BHUSHAN AWARD the highest award by All India Bhavsar Kshatriya Mahasabha on 26th November 2017 at Nampally, Hyderabad.

When he is not busy with his social work, he tries to keep himself fit by doing yoga, excercises and walking. He also enjoys expanding his social network by making lot of friends.

Education

Rama Mohan Rao started his education in Allagadda, Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh and completed his post graduation against all odds.


  • Primary & Secondary School (I Standard to XI Standard) till 1955, in Yeddula Pedda Papamma Madduleti High School, Allagadda.
  • Intermediate (XII & XIII Standard) during 1955 to 1957 in Osmania College, Kurnool.
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA with History, Economics & Politics) in January, 1976 from Sri Venkateswara University as a private candidate.
  • Post Graduation PG (Agriculture Statistics) from Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (IASRI), New Delhi during 1982-83.

Career

Rama Mohan Rao had to discontinue his studies after XIII standard due to his family's financial conditions. He started working as a Clerk on temporary basis in Irrigation Department at Allagadda during 1957. He worked there for five years.

He was selected by Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission as Lower Division Clerk (Junior Assistant) and posted to Animal Husbandry Department, Kurnool in June 1962. After working there for 3 years he was transferred to Ongole, Andhra Pradesh on promotion as Upper Division Clerk (Senior Assistant) in May 1965. In September 1967, he was transferred to Government Live Stock Farm, Banavasi, Kurnool district and subsequently transferred to Adoni in 1972 to join his spouse who got inter state transfer from Bellary to Adoni. On his promotion as Statistical Investigator he was posted to Kurnool in January 1978.

He served as government employee in Animal Husbandry Department at Kurnool, Ongole, Banavasi Farm, Adoni, Nandyal and finally back to Kurnool. He was sent on one year deputation to New Delhi in 1982-1983 for doing Post Graduation in Agriculture Statistics from IASRI.

During his career, he wrote around 35 Scientific Articles related to various parameters on Growth Rate, Birth Weight, Gestation Period, Milk Yield, Maturity, etc., on Ongole X Jersey and Murrah Buffaloes. Rama Mohan Rao retired as Statistical Investigator in June 1996 and settled down at Hyderabad.

Achievements

  • Rama Mohan Rao was awarded the prestigious National Level DR.M.N.Menon Memorial Medal on 11 September 1998 for the article on Studies on Life-Time Productive Performance of Ongole and Jersey X Ongole Cows in Andhra Pradesh. The Indian Veterinary Association, Bangalore published the article in Indian Veterinary Journal 1996 (volume 73).
  • Received Citation from Vishwa Hindu Parishad in July 2007 for developing Bhavasar Kshatriya Community.
  • Received Jeevan Gaurav Award (Lifetime Achievement Award) in January 2008 and Samaj Bhushan Award in November 2017 from All India Bhavsar Kshatriya Mahasabha for his enormous contribution and outstanding achievements in the field of developing Bhavasar Kshatriya Community.
  • Rama Mohan Rao also received two District Level Awards for his excellent work on 26 January 1994 and 15 August 1995.
  • He received number of Appreciation & Commendation Letters from the Director of Animal Husbandry, Andhra Pradesh, for his exemplary contribution in the field work on Weaker Section programmes and Lab to Land programmes.
  • SAMAJ BHUSHAN AWARD, the highest award by All India Bhavsar Kshatriya Mahasabha was conferered on 26th November 2017 at Nampally, Hyderabad for his selfless and dedicated contribution to Bhavsar Kshatriya community.

Family

Married to Rukmani Bai on 26 February 1967 and blessed with two sons Raveen, PraveenKumar & a daughter Suman.

Rukmani Bai

Rama Mohan Rao married Rukmani Bai Patke in 1967 at Bellary, Karnataka state. Rukmani Bai worked at Bellary, Adoni before retiring at Kurnool in Irrigation Department as a Senior Assistant. She took up the role as President - Bhavasar Kshatriya Samaj Mahila Mandali and supporting her husband in social work for the development of Bhavasar Kshatriya Community.

Raveen

Born in Adoni, known as "Munna" & "Ravi", completed his schooling & college education from Adoni & Kurnool. Completed BE (Industrial Engineering) from Pune University and currently working in Accenture at Pune. Married Jayashree in 1995 and blessed with a daughter Yashasvi.

PraveenKumar

Born in Adoni, completed his schooling & college education from Adoni & Kurnool. Completed BE (Industrial Engineering) and MPM (Masters in Personnel Management) from Pune University. Married Vathsalya Lakshmi in 1997.

Suman

Born in Adoni, known as "Munni", completed her schooling & college education from Adoni & Kurnool. Completed MBBS and MD (Gynaecology & Obstetrics) from Kurnool Medical College, Kurnool and currently practicing at Bangalore. Married Siva Subba Rao Patange in 2000 and blessed with a son Chaitanya.

Rama Mohan Rao had to discontinue his education due to financial constraints of the family after completing Inter (XIII Standard) and started working to shoulder the responsibility of his family. He revolted against the entire Allagadda village for his sister's high school education. Eventually, he moved the family to Kurnool for providing good education to his brothers & sisters. Allagadda

During his time at Allagadda, Rama Mohan Rao became increasingly aware of the gender inequality and injustice faced by females in schools and colleges. Rama Mohan Rao started addressing social issues very early, much before he started working. The first step in this direction was when he fought against everyone in Allagadda village so that his sister can pursue her studies in high school. His sisters Syamala Bai and Kamala Bai became the first and second girls in Bhavasar Kshatriya Community, Allagadda to study in high school.

Bhavasar Kshatriya Community

After his retirement from State Government Service, he along with his wife Rukmani Bai started getting involved in the social cause of developing Bhavasar Kshatriya Community in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. The first step was to construct a temple for Bhavasar Kshatriya Community, which was pending for decades together. He undertook the task of constructing Sri Rukmini Panduranga Swamy Temple and completed it in 100 days. Subsequently, he constructed Bhavasar Bhavan and Kalyana Mantap (Marriage Hall), which helped the Bhavasar Kshatriya Samaj in getting a steady income.

Rama Mohan Rao, as the President of Kurnool Bhavasar Kshatriya Samaj along with his wife Rukmani Bai, President of Bhavasar Kshatriya Mahila Mandali took the initiative and started working towards the betterment of poor in the community. During his tenure he started many welfare activities and implemented in a befitting and trend setting manner successfully along with his able and enthusiastic team.


Bhavasar Kshatriya Community

Rama Mohan Rao, as the President of Kurnool Bhavasar Kshatriya Samaj along with his wife Rukmani Bai, President of Bhavasar Kshatriya Mahila Mandali took the initiative and started working towards the betterment of poor in the community. During his tenure he started many welfare activities and implemented in a befitting and trend setting manner successfully along with his able and enthusiastic team.

  • During his tenure as a President the Bhavasar Kshatriya Mandali, Kurnool along with his able team members has gained its prestige from the lowest web to the peak of its highest level not only in Andhra Pradesh but also at national level.

Bhavasar Kshatriya Education Trust

He, as the Founder and Settler of the Trust has set-up Bhavasar Kshatriya Education Trust in 2008, for sponsoring scholarships and financial assistance to the meritorious & poor children in Kurnool district. Rama Mohan Rao received the Citation from Viswa Hindu Parishad in July 2007 and Jeevan Gourav Award (Lifetime Achievement Award) in January 2008 and Samaj Bhushan Award in November 2017 from All India Bhavsar Kshatriya Mahasabha, for his enormous contribution and outstanding achievements in the field of developing Bhavasar Kshatriya Community.

Development of Seetharam Nagar, Kurnool

As President of Seetharam Nagar Colony, Rama Mohan Rao initiated the following activities :

  • Initiated to appoint a lady staff member first time in the office at Kurnool during 1963
  • Establishment of Municipal Elementary school
  • Formation and laying roads inside the colony
  • Proper drainage facilities
  • Drinking water pipe lines under Shramadan Programme
  • Recreation facility for the colony residents - Park, Walking Path, Jogging Path, etc.
